Programme

Imagine Membrane will be highly interactive with ample time for discussing science.

Invited speakers will present their view and perspective on currently hot topics in membrane science and technology, followed by Sessions chairs leading the open discussion. There are no parallel sessions and it is not original data that are in the foreground but the discussion of concepts. In this context, Imagine Membrane hopes to complement the regular conferences of the membrane community.

Student participation is highly encouraged and poster sessions have always been very dynamic and interactive

The programme is built around nine topics which comprise

  • Membrane materials
  • Membrane processes
  • Membrane transport
  • Membranes for water applications
  • Membranes in bio/health
  • Process intensification with membranes
  • Advanced membrane manufacturing
  • Membrane modifications
  • Membrane entrepreneurship

and in which outstanding lecturers will present their very personal view on current challenges.

Student workshop:

This edition’s workshop for students will focus on entrepreneurship in membrane science and technology and will be held by Guilherme Victorino from NOVA IMS – Information Management School, Portugal.

This session is intended to foster creativity and to develop unexpected partnerships by applying design thinking to a broad range of challenges. Through a guided session around entrepreneurship methods and processes, the workshop offers the identification of opportunities for innovation within research groups, societal challenges, or business value creation. Designing is giving form to an idea to conceive of a more desirable product, service, process, or organization and refining the idea into something that can be delivered reliably and efficiently.

In groups the participants will identify ill-defined, ill-structured problems within their areas of expertise and combine analysis and synthesis in ways that are integrative and inventive, and through it create opportunities and means of attaining them. A major outcome of the session is a presentation of the challenges and opportunities discovered during the design analysis, demonstrating unexpected value to the end user, and bringing together changing technologies, capabilities, relationships, activities and materials to shape the future role of membrane materials and technology.

Poster session

Participants will have the opportunity to submit abstracts and present their work in a poster session.

FINAL PROGRAMME

During the Design&Entrepreneurship Session for students there will be a guided tour through the renowned gardens of the Terra Nostra Hotel.
